Minneapolis To Host '18 WNBA All-Star Game In Newly Renovated Target Center

The '18 WNBA All-Star Game "will be held at newly renovated Target Center on July 28," according to Kent Youngblood of the Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE. The bid for the game "was a joint effort" between the Lynx, Meet Minneapolis and Sports Minneapolis. This is the "first time the Twin Cities will host the WNBA All-Star Game." Lynx Dir of Business Operations Carley Knox "promised a slew of community- and game-related events that will be announced in the coming months." Knox: "We'll have creative events, events never done before to engage the city and our fan base. We're excited about it" (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 9/3). The AP noted Target Center will have a "remodeled arena to flaunt next season." The 27-year-old facility has "been undergoing" a $140M renovation "to be finished next month" (AP, 9/2).
