Every year sports business sees plenty of turnover, and ‘17 was no different. This year saw the emergence of new leaders, while several team execs and well-known members of the media said goodbye.
HELLO : This year, Liberty Media completed its takeover of F1 and welcomed Chase Carey as its new CEO & Exec Chair. Carey replaced Bernie Ecclestone, who had held the top exec position for F1 for 40 years. Carey is focused on growing F1 from an organizational standpoint and making the circuit appealing to the modern fan. Carey also has said that he would like to expand the number of races F1 holds in the U.S. Currently, the only F1 race in the U.S. is at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas.
