Disney Hoping To Sell Off 22 Fox RSNs By End Of Next Month

Disney is "aiming to reach agreements for the sale" of the 22 RSNs it is acquiring from Fox "by the end of February," according to sources cited by Palmeri, Ahmed & Soshnick of BLOOMBERG NEWS. Sources said that Disney fielded the "first round of bids in November from five to 10 suitors," and that the company "hopes to weed out lowball offers, weigh a second round of bids and pick winners by the end" of next month. Some big media companies have "already made it clear they’re not interested in bidding," including Comcast, Discovery and Fox itself. Some analysts have put a value of $20-22B on the "entire package, although Disney may have trouble reaching those numbers." Meanwhile, the Yankees are "moving forward to acquire" the 80% they "don’t already own" of YES Network (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 1/15). This comes amid recent reports that the Justice Department could allow Disney to spin off the RSNs rather than having to find a buyer (THE DAILY).
