NHL Attendance Down Slightly Headed Into All-Star Break

NHL attendance heading into the All-Star break is just slightly off last year’s pace. NHL clubs are averaging 17,368 fans per game compared to 17,453 (-0.5%) during the same time frame last season. The Blackhawks remain on pace to lead the league at the gate for an 11th consecutive season -- despite sitting at next-to-last in the Western Conference standings. The team is averaging 23,424 per game (+8.2%) at United Center. Meanwhile, the Avalanche have a league-best increase of 14% at Pepsi Center. Overall, there are 11 NHL teams that have played at 100% capacity or better this season for all home games. The Islanders have the league’s smallest average at 12,060 (-3.8%), splitting this season’s home schedule between Barclays Center and Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The Devils, Jets and Panthers all hosted designated home games in Europe as part of the NHL Global Series.
