UCF Athletics in FY '17-18 reported $62M in revenue, a 10% jump from the prior year, as increased football ticket sales during the team's undefeated '17 season and "higher bowl game payouts made up a big portion of the higher revenue," according to Beth Kassab of the ORLANDO SENTINEL. UCF sold $5.6M in tickets during the FY that started in June '17 and ended in June '18, a jump from $4.4M the year before. Football "drove most of those sales," bringing in $4.6M. UCF completed its perfect season in'17 by winning the Peach Bowl, a game that brought in $5.2M versus the $637,000 the team "earned from the Cure Bowl in Orlando" in '16. The football team's national championship declaration "cost UCF more money, including $838,000 in coaching bonuses as a reward for achieving the postseason milestones" (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 2/22).
