Cowboys TE Jason Witten said that criticism of him as a broadcaster "didn't influence his decision to return to the NFL" after one season in ESPN's "MNF" booth, though he did acknowledge that the "Internet beating was tough to deal with at times," according to Andrew Joseph of USATODAY.com. Witten during an appearance on The Ringer's "Dual Threat" podcast with Ryen Russillo said, "I took a beating. I'm aware of it. To say, 'Hey, you didn't pay attention to it.' Bull-(expletive). Everybody's aware, and if you're not, you're lying to me" (USATODAY.com, 4/3). Witten added, "I wasn't immune to it. It sucked going through it, at times. Once the narrative formed, I knew it was going to be a long-game approach."
