Turner Sees Jump In First-Round PGA Ratings, Digital Consumption

TNT drew a 0.9 overnight rating for the first round of the PGA Championship, marking the best Thursday telecast for the major since ’15. The rating is up 13% from last year, when the event was still in mid-August, and is especially notable because the marquee Tiger Woods-Brooks Koepka-Francesco Molinari pairing played the vast majority of its round before TNT came on the air at 1:00pm ET. Meanwhile, Turner Sports-operated PGA.com also had its best Thursday on record for the event in terms of video views. For the complete suite of PGA digital products, Thursday was an all-time high for live hours of consumption for the first day of the major. First round video consumption on the WatchTNT streaming platform was up around 50% vs. '18 and also set a new high.
