Panthers LB Luke Kuechly has been a long-time endorser for Charlotte-based CPI Security, but it is "too early to know" if he will remain in that role after announcing his retirement on Tuesday, according to Joe Marusak of the CHARLOTTE OBSERVER. Kuechly has endorsed CPI since '14, and company spokesperson Heidi Cowley said employees at the home security provider were "taken a bit by surprise" by the retirement news. Marusak notes Kuechly, through a "long-running series of often hilarious commercials and videos," helped make CPI a "household name in the Carolinas and beyond." CPI plans to produce a "thank-you" commercial for Kuechly, as well as "release a longer video with behind-the-scenes footage." Cowley said that the commercial "will air on local stations in Charlotte" beginning this week. She added CPI "typically produced" commercials with Kuechly in the summer, during the NFL offseason, and no '20 commercial was "yet in the works" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 1/16).
