Beckham increases Inter Miami stake as Ressler's Ares also joins

Inter Miami co-Owners Jorge and Jose Mas and David Beckham on Friday "finalized the buyout of former partners Marcelo Claure and Masayoshi Son" while also adding Ares Management as a "preferred equity investor through funds managed by its Credit Group," according to Michelle Kaufman of the MIAMI HERALD. Ares announced that its investment was $150M. The news comes on the heels of the team "signing its first major jersey sponsor-- cryptocurrency firm XBTO – in a four-year deal believed to be" worth $4-5M per year (MIAMI HERALD, 9/17). L.A.-based Ares Management in June bought a 33% share in Atletico Madrid and also bought into the McLaren Group in mid-July. Hawks Principal Owner & Chair Tony Ressler is a co-founder and exec chair at Ares (SBJ).
