Saturday's Royal Rumble at San Antonio's Alamodome posted a record gate of more than $7.7M. That was up more than 50% from the previous record, which was set in 2017 when the event was also held in San Antonio.WWE reported that the 2023 Royal Rumble also broke all-time venue merchandise and sponsorship records. Merchandise sales were up 135% versus the record set in 2022. Sponsorship was up nearly 200% versus 2022 and featured the first sponsored match (Mtn Dew Pitch Black) and sponsored countdown clock (Applebee’s).
