Morning Hot Reads: Under the radar

The DALLAS MORNING NEWS writes as mental health conversations take center stage at the Olympics, U.S. sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson’s "void in Tokyo is impossible to ignore." Richardson said that she ingested marijuana "after learning about the death of her biological mother from a reporter just before her races at the trials." Though marijuana violates anti-doping rules, Richardson "used the drug to 'hide my pain' while grappling with the unexpected news, their complicated relationship and mounting external pressure." Instead, "attention throughout the first week of Olympic events has focused on star gymnast Simone Biles." Had Richardson "not broken a rule while coping with her own distress, she would’ve been impossible to ignore in Tokyo, too."
