The NHL and S.F.-based international money transfer provider OFX inked a multiyear sponsorship deal making the company the league’s official currency exchange provider. Financial terms were not disclosed for the North American tie-up, which begins immediately. It is a new sponsorship category altogether for the NHL. OFX will sponsor the NHL.com trade tracker and also activate at marquee outdoor league events like the Heritage Classic and Stadium Series, among other deal elements.
NHL Dir of Business Development Max Paulsen and Senior VP/North American Business Development & Global Partnerships Kyle McMann negotiated with OFX President, North America Alfred Nader on the sponsorship. CSM Sports & Entertainment initiated talks between OFX and the NHL. OFX has engaged with Ridgewood, N.J.-based BOOM Ventures, a brand engagement agency, around strategy and activation purposes.
