NBA investigating pair of sign-and-trade deals

The Raptors will "do what they can to aid" an NBA investigation into sign-and-trade transactions, including the one that "sent franchise icon" G Kyle Lowry to the Heat. According to a report by ESPN.com, the NBA is "looking into free-agency deals" between the Raptors and Heat, and the Pelicans and Bulls. Lowry was dealt to the Heat for G Goran Dragic and F Precious Achiuwa this past week, while the Pelicans sent G Lonzo Ball to the Bulls. Teams were "prohibited from talking to free agents or their representatives" before 6:00pm ET last Monday, and "precluded from finalizing deals until noon Friday." There was "no indication of who might have complained to the league or why the investigation began" (TORONTO STAR, 8/8).
