YES Network's Ken Singleton set to retire

Yankees analyst Ken Singleton yesterday announced that today "would be his final game before retiring." Singleton "thanked a slew of people" around YES Network and the team "during the fourth-inning" of Yankees-Rays. Singleton said, “I’ve been broadcasting baseball for 37 years. But the time has come to stop.” Singleton took a half-inning to "thank just about everyone, from the Yankees to George Steinbrenner, who hired him." Singleton has been in his role since '97 (N.Y. POST, 10/3). Singleton "grew emotional at times" during a "six-minute farewell announcement in the top of the fourth inning." He "long has been personally popular among colleagues and fans" (NEWSDAY, 10/3).
