 Runners use online option

About three-quarters of the 11,091 runners who preregistered for the LaSalle Bank Shamrock Shuffle 8K race in Chicago on March 26 signed up online, taking advantage of a $4 discount on the entry fee. That total is up from about 10 percent of the preregistered runners for the 1999 race. No discount was offered in 1999.

EWRX adding racing site

EWRX Internet Systems Inc. plans next month to launch Speedwrx.com, a Web site devoted to racing. EWRX (pronounced "e-works") aims to augment the company's ClassicCar.com and ClassicTruckShop.com sites. Heading the Speedwrx.com editorial team is Paul Dana, who covered CART and IRL for AutoWeek magazine.

 

Golf Webcast scores

The Live@17 Webcast from The Players Championship late last month attracted more than 5 million hits from Thursday to Sunday of the PGA Tour event at the TPC at Sawgrass. The venture provided a streamed Internet video broadcast from the course's famed island green for its 17th hole and was offered by the PGA Tour, USA Network and Microcast Inc.

 

Firm goes outside the box

SportsIQ.com is advertising its Web site on shoe boxes. SportsIQ.com CEO Billy Kramer said the company is putting its logo on more than 250,000 boxes for Speed Limit Inc. athletic shoes.

 

Broadband packages services

Broadband Sports Inc. began marketing its ProSports Xchange and College Sports Xchange services under one name, SportsWritersDirect. The online program provides news and information about pro and college sports via www.sportswritersdirect.com.

 

Mutiny enhances site

The Tampa Bay Mutiny relaunched the team's Web site, featuring enhanced capabilities for computer users with high-speed connections. The additional features of www.tampabaymutiny.com include more color, graphics and music. Merchandise and ticket-buying options are also expanded on the new site.
