hey have access to the highest levels of sports, they understand the details behind some of the most complex deals in the industry, and their purview covers the most sensitive areas in sports — price, cost, debt and financial viability. They are financiers and advisories in sports business mergers and acquisitions, and the latest in our series of Power Players.

In producing this list, we talked to numerous sources involved in sports finance and asked them to identify the market leaders. We focused primarily on team sales — buy side and sell side — but fully understand that these groups are involved in deals covering multiple segments in sports, especially media and technology.

We have split our list into two areas. First, it’s those doing the financing of these large team deals and funding the leagues’ credit facilities; those handling major financing, syndicating bank loans, raising capital, and devising debt structure while clearly understanding the financial markets. Second, there are the investment advisers, those serving in a pure advisory role to buy-side/sell-side principals, working on valuation, deal structure, market dynamics and sell/buy strategy, among other elements.

All of the individuals have deep relationships and access to capital and high net worth individuals, and will be behind the scenes directing the largest deals in sports for years to come. Learn more about these Power Players.
