N.Y. Mayor Eric Adams said the Liberty will be the "first New York City women's sports team to parade through the Canyon of Heroes" if they win the 2024 WNBA Finals. City Hall officials yesterday confirmed that Adams' pledge "holds true as Lady Liberty's torch: the team will get a parade if they prevail in the best-of-five series." The Liberty currently hold a 2-1 series lead after winning Game 3 in Minneapolis. N.Y. hasn't seen a ticker-tape parade since the Giants beat the Patriots in the 2012 Super Bowl, despite other champions like MLS team NYCFC in 2021 and NWSL club NY/NJ Gotham FC in 2023 -- both of which were honored in other ways. N.Y. did hold ticker-tape parades for the USWNT after winning the Women's World Cup in 2015 and 2019 (N.Y. POST, 10/17).
