The 90th Masters Tournament tees off this week at Augusta National Golf Club, and though the club’s deep traditions remain, it continues to evolve with a number of enhancements that will aid competitors and viewers alike.
First, on the player side, the club has unveiled its Player Services Building, a three-story venue that has dining, a locker room, fitness center and more. The building will give players some privacy during the week; it’s only available to competitors, their families and immediate support staff. No agents or press members.
On the tech side, IBM launched an AI feature on the Masters’ online vault that lets fans find any shot from any final round of the tournament dating to 1968. Amazon Prime Video also continues dipping its toe further into sports and has picked up four hours of live coverage on Thursday and Friday (1-3 p.m. ET both days) ahead of ESPN’s telecast. Adding to the main broadcast coverage on Prime Video is a new streaming option, “Inside Amen Corner,” a data-based feed that will showcase Augusta National’s famed three-hole stretch.
Those are just a sliver of the enhancements added by Augusta National and its partners ahead of this year’s Masters.
