AUGUSTA, Ga. -- TGL is in the midst of media rights negotiations with its ESPN contract expiring, and presenting sponsor SoFi is eyeing more consistent broadcast windows in the league’s next deal.

SoFi CEO Anthony Noto said he’s leaving negotiations to TMRW Sports CEO Mike McCarley, but “we express the things we’d like to see.”

One of those things is broadcast consistency. Just in its second season, TGL had broadcast windows on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Friday.

“One night a week that’s the same every week would be beneficial,” Noto told SBJ this week. “Having consistency so people know where to go every week, that helps. People know when ‘Monday Night Football’ is. We have to have that same stake in the ground for TGL.”

Over its first two seasons with TGL, ESPN would host “SportsCenter” live from the league’s SoFi Center on various match nights. Noto pointed to analysis throughout the week that ESPN does around its other partners like the NBA, NFL and other sports, and he believes one day the same could be done for TGL.

“I think we can evolve into a day where the popularity is strong enough so that whoever our media partner is can do that,” he said.
