David Manica, known for designing high-end sports venue experiences, and mixed-use entertainment developer and operator The Cordish Companies will unveil Monday The Residence, a 4,000-square-foot high-end bar in the heart of K.C.’s Power & Light District.

The 12-block neighborhood that opened in 2007, includes the T-Mobile Center, No Other Pub (owned by Sporting KC), and PBR Big Sky Cowboy Bar and four towers that are home to more than 2,000 residents.

Guests at The Residence will enter a circular foyer lined with cabinets and sculptures, with black-and-white marble floors and a central table beneath a chandelier. At the heart of the venue is the Great Room, with soaring ceilings, built-in bookshelves, a marble fireplace, and tall draped windows. The Solarium is wrapped in glass and lush planting, while the Private Room offers a quieter setting anchored by a European-style bar and more intimate seating. A discreet valet drop-off and rear entry ensure convenient and secure arrival, allowing guests immediate and seamless access to the lounge.

Manica said he was describing the concept -- this fourth bar, all in the K.C. market -- at home to his family recently and his 15-year-old son said, ”Dad, you said you weren’t going to do any more bars.”

“I told them I wanted the feeling as though you’re going to a private party at a wealthy residence that most people would never be able to get to,” said Manica. “You’re greeted at this sort of old money foyer. and you start wandering around this old mansion, and it’s kind of dark, maybe in a sinister way.”

His son’s response?

“‘Oh. So, it’s like going to a party at Bruce Wayne’s house.’”

Dad laughed and agreed.

The K.C.-based architect’s recent portfolio includes the new Nissan Stadium under construction for the Titans; the Thunder’s under-construction new Continental Coliseum; Inter Miami’s Nu Stadium; and the transformation of Progressive Field (a 2026 Sports Business Awards nominee for Sports Facility of the Year).

“David takes a boutique hotel approach to work, and his stadium and arenas include incredible places to socialize,” said Reed Cordish, The Cordish Companies’ principal. “The Power and Light District itself functions in some regards like a large-scale arena, with different spaces, and it has an energy and feel like an arena does. So this really is an expansion of Manica’s work.”

Cordish’s Live! Hospitality & Entertainment division oversees 16 mixed use sites including five that have at least one major league sports venue as an anchor tenant, with another location opening this summer near Wrigley Field.

It’s the first time the two companies have teamed up.

“I honestly would not be doing another bar if it weren’t for Cordish,“ Manica said.
