LIV Golf this week made a number of executive moves as it tries to secure new funding following the Saudi PIF’s exit. In an internal memo that was viewed by SBJ, LIV said it was hitting the market this week with “LIV 2.0″ and announced a number of executive moves to go along with it.
LIV named RICHARD MARSH -- or “Marshy” as he’s known at LIV -- Advisor to CEO SCOTT O’NEIL. Marsh has been involved at LIV since the beginning (his title on LinkedIn says Group Strategy Director at Performance 54), and he stays largely out of the public eye. But those around the league and in golf circles know him as a top negotiator for LIV, specifically around player recruitment. The memo said Marsh’s institutional knowledge would be “leveraged for high-priority special projects and strategic counsel at the executive level.”

Meanwhile, OLLIE BANKS, who’s been acting as a co-general manager for the Majesticks GC team, is moving to a new role of EVP and Chief Championships Officer. The memo noted Banks will be the “senior authority on player recruitment and the championship product.” He will be reporting to Head of Team Business Operations KATIE O’REILLY.
JAMES DUNKLEY, who co-managed the Majesticks with Banks, will become the team’s sole GM and take on an additional role of Regional Managing Director of the U.K. region.
Finally, CHRIS BENTLEY, who has been the Regional Managing Director for South Africa, is taking on an additional role as Global Managing Director, in which he’ll oversee the league’s other RMDs.
LIV is playing in South Korea this week before heading to Spain for an event next week. The league reportedly is seeking up to $350M in new investments.
