Laver Cup, the annual three-day, team-based tennis tournament launched by Roger Federer’s Team8 agency in 2017, has a site and date for its 2027 edition: L.A.’s Intuit Dome, from Sept. 24-26. It will be the Laver Cup’s 10th edition and fourth in the U.S., joining previous stops at S.F.’s Chase Center (2025), Boston’s T.D. Garden (2021) and Chicago’s United Center (2018). The 2026 Laver Cup is being held at London’s O2 Arena from Sept. 25-27.
Laver Cup CEO Steve Zacks told SBJ that Intuit Dome Dir of Booking & Special Events Mark Loewinger reached out to the Laver Cup team on the final day of the S.F. event last September to inquire if they would consider hosting an edition at Intuit Dome. “We quickly started staking it out, and it had so many advantages,” Zacks said, listing among them the arena’s built-in technology and L.A.’s geographic placement, which is convenient for Laver Cup’s annual spot on the calendar between the U.S. Open in late August/early September and the ATP Tour’s Asia swing in late September/early October. “It’s going to make for an incredible seating bowl for tennis.”
Specifics are still being finalized, but Zacks said he is expecting Intuit Dome, which has never hosted a tennis event, to seat about 17,000 for Laver Cup. That would be less than the venue’s capacity of 18,300 for basketball, but slightly larger than Laver Cup’s typical target; the Chase Center, as one example, sat 16,500 for each session of its weekend last year.
Laver Cup is also known for its lush hospitality packages, which can price into the five figures and are headlined by its ultra-exclusive “Rocket Club.” Zacks said Intuit Dome has “incredible” hospitality spaces they’ll be able to retrofit, as well as amenities like a basketball practice court, on top of which Laver Cup plans to put a practice tennis court; an outdoor plaza that will be used as a fan zone; and interactive tech elements like the arena’s in-seat remote controls and double-sided “Halo Board.”
Laver Cup set personal records for revenue and weekend-long attendance (81,500) at Chase Center last year. Zacks added the event will likely set a sponsorship revenue record this year. Laver Cup’s sponsor roster numbers north of 20 and includes blue-chip brands like Rolex, Mercedes-Benz and UBS. (Last year, it hit a milestone of more than half of its corporate partners not deriving from deals with Federer, whose involvement helped validate the tournament in its early years.)
Team8 CEO & Laver Cup Chairman Tony Godsick said Laver Cup plans to expand its programming -- in some form -- throughout the calendar outside of its dedicated week and could continue grow by possibly acquiring or folding into another “big event.”
“We’re a young event,” he said. “We’ve got a great team that can continue to build this. We’re just getting started.”
