ESPN has reached a multiyear contract extension with ESPN senior writer and SEC Network and ESPN Radio co-host Ryan McGee (ESPN). Coinciding with the announcement, McGee also revealed he "wrote for ESPN The Magazine under the pseudonym 'Al Covington' in the early 2000s while also working for a company that produced NASCAR TV programming." McGee said that "writing under another name was the idea" of then-ESPN exec John Skipper, whose roles included heading up The Magazine. McGee, who had never talked about it publicly before today, joked, "Al Covington did a great job. I’ve always been proud of him" (KNOXVILLE NEWS SENTINEL, 11/11).
