As the U.S. and China prep for a "high-stakes summit between President Biden and President Xi " as soon as next week, a potential boycott of the '22 Beijing Games "could complicate those talks." CNBC’s Kayla Tausche cites sources as saying the U.S. is "bracing" for Xi to "invite Biden to attend" the Games, now less than 100 days away. Tausche: “G7 nations are still discussing a possible diplomatic boycott of the Games, where athletes but not governments will participate. According to two Western diplomats, "no final joint decision has been made on whether leaders will attend." A "customary" invitation from Xi would in this case be "almost a dare" to Biden. He could "decline and put the relationship on ice, or accept and anger allies and human rights activists” ( “Squawk Box,” CNBC, 11/11).
