The USOPC has hired Rocky Harris to be the organization’s chief of sport and athlete services. The new position was created following the recent merger of the USOPC’s athlete performance and athlete services functions. Harris will now oversee all athlete service programming, inclusive of both physical and mental health, as well as high-performance teams, NGB services and collegiate partnerships. Harris is well-respected in NGB circles and joins the USOPC from a five-year stint as CEO of USA Triathlon, which last summer recorded its best-ever Olympic and Paralympic performances at the Tokyo Games.
He effectively fills the seat recently vacated by Rick Adams, who in April was relieved of his duties as the USOPC’s chief of sport performance and NGB services as part of the organization’s internal restructuring. Harris, a member of SBJ’s Forty Under 40 class of 2017, is expected to begin in his new role next month.
