Chicago this afternoon was awarded hosting duties for the 2024 Democratic National Convention, with the Bulls and Blackhawks' United Center scheduled to hold the "main events." An estimated 50,000 people "are expected to attend the 2024 event." The city also "offered the Wintrust Arena for ancillary events." The United Center was the "home of Chicago’s last presidential convention in 1996" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 4/11). Between NASCAR and the convention, Chicago’s hospitality industry "should have good momentum and some busy weeks to look forward to" (TWITTER, 4/11).
