The JP Morgan Tournament of Champions squash tournament broke its own attendance record in its 20th year at Grand Central Station in N.Y. this week, selling 9,000 tickets over the eight-day event and giving the sport’s enthusiasts another opportunity to lobby for Olympic inclusion. The previous high was around 8,100 for the temporarily venue, inside of the busy train station where officials estimate another 200,000 commuters pass by the courts. During the tournament, two international governing bodies of squash -- the World Squash Federation and the Professional Squash Tour -- announced they would work together. "The future is rosy and there is a real opportunity to work together and present that strongest case [about the Olympics],” said Squash Engine President John Nimick, whose group owns the rights to the event. "We have athletes from everywhere, we are drug free and we have tremendous credibility, hopefully they [IOC] will see that.”
