USA Basketball HQ Will Stay In Colorado Springs After Years Of Looking Elsewhere

USA Basketball has "committed to remain in Colorado Springs" after nearly a decade of the city trying to "keep the organization," according to David Ramsey of the Colorado Springs GAZETTE. The NGB plans to move to the same downtown location that the USOC has its HQ, and construction on the offices will "begin this summer." USA Basketball "plans to move in by the end" of this year. The new HQ "will include 10,000 square feet of office and meeting space and 16,000 square feet for storage." USA Basketball first broached a move in '08, when Glendale, Ariz., announced plans to house the NGB as part of a $53.8M project. However, two years later, financing "fell through during the recession." Relocation was again brought up in '13, when Tempe, Ariz., detailed plans for a $436M project called USA Place that would include USA Basketball as its "featured tenant." That deal also fell through. Colorado Springs currently houses 23 Olympic NGBs (Colorado Springs GAZETTE, 4/26).
