The Cavaliers yesterday "released a series of updated logos that will debut along with new Nike uniforms in the offseason," according to Joe Noga of the Cleveland PLAIN DEALER. The logos include the "addition of the color black as a nod to the turning point" of the '16 NBA Finals when the team "wore black sleeved jerseys in Game 5 and Game 7 wins against the Warriors." Two shield-style logos are also included, "representing the team's commitment to 'Defend the Land.'" The new secondary shield logo "includes elements of the team's blue jerseys as well as the team's traditional Wine and Gold colors." New wordmarks, or logo text, have "sharper edges, inspired by the idea of a defender and the motion of a sword" (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 6/1).
