G League Reportedly Eyeing Mamba Sports Academy For Select Team

The NBA G League's new Select Team that includes prep stars Jalen Green and Isaiah Todd is "looking into making its home base at the Mamba Sports Academy," the training facility outside L.A. that was created by the late Kobe Bryant, according to sources cited by Chris Haynes of YAHOO SPORTS. Sources said that while the partnership with the Mamba Sports Academy is "not official with other venues still being considered," Green, Todd and others "still deliberating joining the G League are of the mindset that they will be training at the academy" for the '20-21 season. The Select Team is an "alternative route for elite prospects who want to play professionally instead of attending college or traveling overseas." While the majority of the team "will be made up of veteran players," the high schoolers "will be compensated in the high six-figure range and given a full scholarship opportunity while preparing" for the '21 NBA Draft (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 4/20).
