The NFL continues to be a “growing hit worldwide,” and no season has "ever been as international” as the 2022 season, according to Jose Romero of the ARIZONA REPUBLIC. Three games took place at two different venues in London last month, featuring six different teams, and the league "went to Germany for the first time." Tonight will see the Cardinals and 49ers in a "Monday Night Football" matchup at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. While soccer is "king in England, Germany and Mexico," it is "clear that when the NFL comes to town ... people want to be there.” Tonight’s game in Mexico represents an “in-person, full-team opportunity for the Cardinals and 49ers to build a stronger foothold" in the country, where the "sport of fútbol americano continues to grow.” The NFL’s initiatives abroad have seen the "growth of youth flag football participation in the different countries" and "opening up the sport to boys and girls from varying socioeconomic backgrounds” (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 11/19).
