IndyCar is getting back into the video game space, signing a new deal with Motorsport Games to create new products including a debut title that will launch in ’23. Motorsport Games, which is also NASCAR’s console video game licensee, will now have a license to produce games with America’s top open-wheel series in IndyCar. The debut title will made for Xbox and PlayStation consoles as well as PCs. IndyCar will also start a new sim racing/esports competition as part of the deal. The announcement is being made this morning.
Motorsport Games is also in the midst of totally remaking the NASCAR video game series, dropping the “NASCAR Heat” name that had been used over the last half decade and working newly with Epic Games subsidiary Unreal Engine to help build the game out. That new game is expected out sometime later this year.
