Big 12 announces reorganization of internal staff

The Big 12 has announced a reorganization of senior level staffers. CFO Nick Bowes is set to take on an expanded position as the league’s Chief Operating Officer. The role will include oversight of of sales, marketing and communications, among other responsibilities.

The Big 12 is also slated to elevate Kauri Black to VP/Broadcast & Emerging Platforms, Andy Louthain to VP/Compliance & Governance, Katie Ristow to VP/Brand & Marketing, and Keena Lynch to Assistant VP/Content & Digital Media.

Brian Thornton, who joined the league after serving three years as commissioner of the WAC, has also been elevated to Chief Basketball Officer, where he will oversee men’s and women’s basketball initiatives. Thornton will work closely with Big 12 VP/Women’s Basketball Dayna Scherf.

The changes in the Big 12 office come amid on the heels of a pair of departures. COO & General Counsel Jessica Presnall recently became the GC & Chief Legal Officer for the SEC, while Chief Brand & Business Officer Tyrel Kirkham was recently hired as CMO for the Hornets.
