Penn State has “officially surpassed” the $134.3M fundraising goal it publicly set for Beaver Stadium renovations in May 2024, according to Josh Moyer of the CENTRE DAILY TIMES. Before the university’s trustees approved spending up to $700M to renovate the stadium -- with funds coming from athletics and not education -- AD Pat Kraft told a relevant trustees committee that his department “would seek to raise nearly 20% of the total through charitable giving.” The work is “on schedule to be completed before the 2027 season,” and fans “should see even more significant changes” -- replacing the upper deck on the west side, adding suites and club spaces, improving circulation and upgrading the lights and sound system. Advanced work has “already been completed” on expanding concourses, installing escalators and upgrading restrooms (CENTRE DAILY TIMES, 7/22).
