The Capitals are launching an augmented reality game this week, and the franchise says it is the first time an NHL team has put together an AR experience that includes an actual gameplay mode. The game, which is called Tilt The Ice, is played with a special coaster that the team will give out for free at its games tomorrow and on Saturday, as well as at surrounding bars during the week. When the coaster is scanned using the app AR8, gamers will trigger a 3D interactive rendering of a goaltender. By tilting the coaster left or right, the goalie moves -- the goal is to make as many saves as possible before the game concludes. The game, which was built by Balti Virtual, is sponsored by Bud Light, whose branding is featured prominently on both the coasters and within the AR experience. The Capitals will award prizes to the top scorers.
